Good morning, Wyncote families,
Black History Month
Wyncote Academy proudly celebrates the accomplishments, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black people as an essential part of the broader American story. While Black History Month offers a dedicated time for reflection and learning, our commitment to honoring Black history extends throughout the entire year. Through curriculum, community engagement, and daily dialogue, we recognize that Black history is American history, shaping our nation’s culture, progress, and ideals. By uplifting these voices and stories year‑round, Wyncote Academy affirms its dedication to equity, understanding, and the inclusive education of all students.

Good morning, Wyncote families,
Snow Day
Due to inclement weather, Wyncote Academy is CLOSED on Monday, January 26. We will continue to monitor the weather to determine Tuesday's status. In the meantime, the students were provided hard copies of work for Monday and Tuesday by their teachers on Friday.
Report Cards
Tuesday, January 20 was official last day of the 2nd Quarter. Students were given an extension through Friday, January 23 to complete missing assignments. Report Cards will be mailed this week.
Good Citizenship Tracking
For the 3rd Quarter, we have created a place on Gradelink to track student behavioral progress. It appears alongside their academic grades. Each student starts with 100%. For each minor infraction, one point is deducted. For each major infraction, five points are deducted. Students who end the 3rd Quarter with 80% or higher will be eligible for a reward trip in April. If you have specific questions about your student's behavior, please contact our Climate Manager, Ms. Shante Mills-Taylor (shantemillstaylor@wyncoteacademy.org). For the sake of transparency, I have attached a copy of our incident report used by the faculty and staff. I have also included the Wyncote Academy Handbook for our newly matriculated students.

End of Quarter 2
Tuesday, January 20 is the official last day of the second marking period. However, students will have until Friday, January 23 to submit missing assignments. Students should utilize this extra time to improve their academic standing. Report Cards are due to be mailed on January 27.
Good Citizenship Reward Trip
We have planned a bowling trip and pizza party for students who have displayed good citizenship throughout the 2nd Quarter. Good citizenship includes arriving to class on-time, positive and appropriate interactions with staff and peers, using school appropriate language, and maintain a safe environment. Further details will be sent this week to the families of the students who are eligible for the trip. If you have questions regarding your student's social and behavioral progress, please contact Ms. Shante (shantemillstaylor@wyncoteacademy.org).
First Floor Suite
The renovation of the first floor of our building is nearly complete. We currently reside on the second floor of the building. The new space will allow for two new classrooms, a library, and office and calming spaces. We are excited for the expansion of our program! The new spaces allow for more students while maintaining the small classroom sizes that benefit all students. Photos of the new wing will be posted on our website (www.wyncoteacademy.org) upon completion.

Wyncote Swag
Thank you to everyone who supported our students and purchased Wyncote Apparel. All proceeds benefit trips and special activities for our students.
Reward Trip
Students who displayed good citizenship during the 1st Quarter earned a fun afternoon on Thursday, November 6 at Altitude Trampoline Park. The trip was to promote and reward behavior that displays self-growth, responsibility, and self-discipline. There will be another fun, reward trip planned for late January.
Students who wish to earn the reward should strive for these good choices:
- Arrive to all classes on time
- Use school appropriate language
- Be attentive during class
- Follow directions
- Have positive peer relationships
- Prompt return to class when using the restrooms or water fountains
Every student is capable of meeting those expectations.
Utilizing Breaks
Students with IEPs may have an accommodation for utilizing breaks. A break during a rigorous academic class can provide a mental, emotional, and/or physical reset if used appropriately. The purpose of the break is to quickly return to learning and activities. If used inappropriately, breaks can lead to missed lessons and gaps in learning.
