Wyncote Swag
I am happy to announce our showroom for Wyncote Academy apparel is now open through November 30. Please follow this link Showrooms and scroll to Wyncote Academy. All proceeds benefit trips and special activities for our students.
Reward Trip
Students who displayed good citizenship during the 1st Quarter earned a fun afternoon on Thursday, November 6 at Altitude Trampoline Park. The trip was to promote and reward behavior that displays self-growth, responsibility, and self-discipline. There will be another fun, reward trip planned for late January.
Students who wish to earn the reward should strive for these good choices:
- Arrive to all classes on time
- Use school appropriate language
- Be attentive during class
- Follow directions
- Have positive peer relationships
- Prompt return to class when using the restrooms or water fountains
Every student is capable of meeting those expectations.
Utilizing Breaks
Students with IEPs may have an accommodation for utilizing breaks. A break during a rigorous academic class can provide a mental, emotional, and/or physical reset if used appropriately. The purpose of the break is to quickly return to learning and activities. If used inappropriately, breaks can lead to missed lessons and gaps in learning.
As young people, students need to learn to use this time wisely. Breaks are not indefinite, nor do they necessarily involve leaving the classroom. Breaks should be timed (no more than 5 minutes). Utilizing movement breaks, meditation, and breathing techniques within the classroom are beneficial to the students.
There is no obligation to allow the students to leave the classroom. Moving forward, I am asking our teachers to offer movement and mental breaks within the classroom. Leaving a classroom should only occur for urgent purposes. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Absences
For an absence to be excused, the school must be notified by 9:30 AM on the day of the absent. Multiple unexcused absence can lead to unfortunate consequences including the removal of tuition funding by School District or Charter School (including settlement agreements). Please email me (josh.bornstein@wyncoteacademy.org) or Ms. Sharon (shester@wyncoteacademy.org) or call the main office (215-885-2000) to notify us of an absence.
Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend!
